I've have not played GW with a g/f but I used to play Ghost Recon with one. We're both athletes and VERY competitive, the game gave us another way to compete on a more even playing ground (guy vs girl in RL sports guy usually wins) we rarely talked about the game outside of playing, I was already into the game when we met and got her playing, plus the use of Team Speak cut down on cell phone bills when we where not together.
wonder where that chic is now a days?
Also total agreemnet with the family togetherness comments, my son and I play a few console games together, give us something in common and when, we game, it give us some alone time, just me and him. He got a few years to go before GW though, but you see him level up his ranger on Gauntlet

The wife & I played Icewind Dale I & II, Baldur's Gate, and NWN together before we got married. Got a copy of GW for each of us at the same time last year, with her approval. She does have to drag me away from GW to do housework, and sometimes I have to drag her away from housework to play GW, but it all works out in the end.

Its the only morpg we play together :D
XD yeah, I play guildwars cause of my boyfriend. I wasn't really interested when he first got it - but then when he got factions, he let me have my own character and I immediately bought the game!
As of recently we have our computers at my house in two separate rooms so we can play together - we use teamspeak anyway and our guild is definately aware that we are a couple :O
Now that I play though - he gets mad when I play more than him...
I'm pretty sure he still prefers this to me watching my shows though :/

my girlfriend hates it, simply because, as i found out the other day, her mom plays it too! I was dying when i went to her house and saw guild wars being played on their computer. so now, me and her mom both play it, which is jsut damn funny

Met an american girl when I joined a guild which I'd been helping for a while (ShoT) and had become some kind of legend among, and within a week or two we were helplessly in love with each other . Here's the really sad part, she's one of the reasons I dumped my real life girlfriend..

I used to hate Guild Wars because my boyfriend would barricade himself inside his house 24/7, playing it. But I grew to love it when I went to his house and he showed me what it was like. So I was like, " I am getting this game!" xD

I used to have a bf, before I started playing GW, but he passed away, so now I am single and have drifted away from the dating scene. Most people in-game, think I am a guy, which is very funny. When they find out I am female however, they get super fresh and immediately try to become a boyfriend. I don't think that counts the same, since it's non physical, or realistic.. but it seems a good portion of gw players have active imaginations ^^

Well hun even online relationships can become physical and realistic, of course that's only if you allow them in most cases. My husband and I met on a message board and were friends for many months before actually meeting and then were friends for a couple more months before we started dating and then about 4mths later we were married. He's been a huge part of best 3yrs of my life! If it were really that unrealistic there wouldn't be people meeting online, in chat rooms, in games, and so forth who are getting married every day. I know of several people that were even countries away from each other who are now happily married (heck my best friend imported hers from Iceland!). And you don't have to be looking for love for it to fall in your lap, but if it happens, don't be afraid to give chase
And yes, most people are confused to find me, a female, with 3kids and one on the way, married and playing the game with my husband. I still even get hit on and my husband just giggles about it We've already met in real life two of the officers in our guild. People can be real, even ingame However to each his own, some people think online relationships ridiculous but I don't, but then that is a personal preference ^_^

What's the matter? You ticked off that people have significant others and you dont? Is that why you had to post such garbage? Sort of a "I dont have a gf so other people MUST be lying about it" statement.

I think led likely didn't read all of the thread... Otherwise he would have notice quite a few "females" posting as well as married couples.
And if he had read there were SEVERAL that admitted to either not having a gf/bf or if they had one they either play with them ingame or don't... Either way I think he missed. Besides he might be that 11yr old in presear spamming - "Anyone need a B/F, message me!"
>_>
Led dear don't bait yourself >_<

It made for a lot of pretty awesome in-game drama, thinking about it.
When I was single, my ex-girlfriend cheated on her current boyfriend with me.
My ex-girlfriend was in my guild.
Her current boyfriend was also in my guild.
Hilarity ensued.

My boyfriend and I live together and are completely addicted to GW. We will usually play together, though not always team up together on the same missions and quests.
The most interesting thing i find about playing with a siginificant other is how the differences in our personalities play out with regards to friends and such. He and I have totally different type of people on our friends lists which can get interesting when we play together. I like much more abrasive and obnoxious players and therefore tend to spend alot of my time bantering with them while trying to accomplish whatever task and since I'm pretty brash my boy has read some interesting comments directed my way.
It's always fun to hear a "What did he just call you?!? coming from across the room.

My hubby and I met online at the time he played UT. I on the other hand barely knew how to turn a computer on...so I complained endlessly that he was spending too much time on his pc. Until I looked over his shoulder one day and saw he was playing Diablo II. After we beat that game to death we bought guild wars. And then Factions, and soon Nightfall. We have a healthy well- balanced relationship. We have interests outside of the game and computers. But this is a decently priced way for us to enjoy ourselves and unwind. It is a way for us to get away from the seriousness of real world issues and problems to get back to enjoying each other without asking him to back away from his computer or him asking me to put the broom down. We go out, we visit family, we play with our daughter.
To all those people that think that it is a bad idea that couples play video games together in this world where it is $3 for a gallon of gas I say to you that it may not be your cup of tea. But when it comes to feeding my daughter and playing guild wars with my husband or going out to a bar/movies/dancing/etc while my daughter lives on peanut butter all because mommy and daddy can't seem to spend time together other wise..
I am going to pick guild wars everytime.
Short story....some have no choice. It is video games or nothing.
I could break it down so that you understood the economics of it but then that would be pointless.
